Phone consultation
The first step is to contact us by phone on 01274 101069 or request a callback by filling in the form on our book appointment page.
Our lead nurse will then carry out a short phone consultation, asking a few questions to get a better understanding of the health of your ears.
We will then book your home visit at a time convenient to you. Our earwax removal appointments usually take around 30 mins.
What to expect during our visit
Our nurse will talk you through the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
Once you’re ready, you’ll then need to a sign a consent form to say you’re happy for our nurse to carry out the procedure.
You will be asked to sit comfortably in a chair, preferably in your kitchen, as we need access to water and plug sockets.
The nurse will then gently examine your ear using a special microscope known as an otoscope, to assess the extent of the earwax buildup and to identify any potential complications such as infections or perforations
A small, suction device or irrigation device will be used to remove the earwax. The nurse will use an otoscope to see the ear canal clearly and ensure that the earwax is removed safely. The procedure is usually painless, although you may feel a slight sensation of suction or water in the ear. Our nurses are happy to stop at any point during the procedure.
Once the earwax has been removed, you may notice an immediate improvement in your hearing.
After the procedure, your nurse will use an otoscope to check the condition of your ear drum and will discuss the outcome and answer any remaining questions you may have.
